50 Years of uf cvm where science meets soul: 50 years and forward

It was 50 years ago, the fall of 1976, that the UF College of Veterinary Medicine opened its doors to the Charter Class, the DVM Class of 1980, under the leadership of founding dean, C.E. “Corny” Cornelius. What started as the Department of Veterinary Science at UF/IFAS in the 1960s – no physical building to call home, restricted space and budgetary confinements – has transformed into the premier College of Veterinary Medicine in the country. Two veterinary hospitals, leading-edge clinical care, an accredited diagnostics laboratory, extensions serving the state of Florida, an internationally renowned research footprint and reputation for cultivating new generations of curious, creative, collaborative, confident and compassionate veterinary and biomedical leaders.
