Spinosaurus mirabilis, or the “astonishing spined lizard,” is the first new Spinosaurus species to be unearthed since the genus was named in 1915.

“Paleontology is difficult, but we like to do it anyway,” Dr. Stephanie Baumgart said. “We just have to proceed carefully.”
