The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine has named Darcy Adin, D.V.M., associate dean for clinical services at the UF Veterinary Hospitals, where she will oversee small animal operations.

Her appointment will be effective July 7.
Currently, Adin serves as assistant dean for clinical services and chief medical officer for the UF Small Animal Hospital, having joined the college’s administration in 2023. In her new role, she will oversee operations for that hospital as well as the UF Pet Emergency Treatment Services satellite facility in Ocala.
A board-certified veterinary cardiologist, Adin oversaw the launch of the college’s groundbreaking open heart surgery program for dogs, which began in August 2023 and continues to grow, providing lifesaving care for dogs with mitral valve disease and hope to owners who would otherwise have no other options for such treatment. She will continue to lead that program with support from the hospital’s cardiology team.
Adin received her D.V.M. from Cornell University in 1996 and completed her residency in cardiology at the University of California, Davis. She worked in private practice as a mobile cardiologist in California before joining the UF College of Veterinary Medicine faculty in 2001 as a clinical instructor in cardiology, becoming a clinical assistant professor in 2003. From 2006-2014, she worked in private practice for two specialty groups in New York and Ohio. Over the next three years, Adin was a clinical assistant professor at North Carolina State University and returned to UF faculty in 2018.
“Since she joined our administration, Dr. Adin has contributed to maintaining the excellent standards of care we provide to our patients, clients and referring veterinarians, while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment within the hospital,” said the college’s dean, Dana Zimmel, D.V.M.
