We will update this page during the course of Hurricane Milton with information relevant to students as well as regarding closures/patient care at UF College of Veterinary Medicine/UF Veterinary Hospitals and our satellite facilities.

CVM College Operations:
- The college resumes normal business operations tomorrow, Oct. 11. All students are expected back tomorrow morning for their usual classes and clinical rotations.
UF Veterinary Hospitals Operations:
- UF PETS in Ocala will reopen tonight, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. for emergency care.
- The small animal hospital at World Equestrian Center in Ocala will provide urgent care during the day as many veterinary practices in Marion County do not have power. The equine team at the World Equestrian Center will continue supporting evacuated horses on-site.
- The UF Veterinary Hospital in Gainesville is open for regular business.
- We realize many veterinary practices in central Florida may have suffered significant losses. Our thoughts are with those who were affected by the storm. The UF College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and staff are here to support you if needed. We are expanding our capacity to care for your clients and patients during this challenging time.
Update: October 8, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
CVM College Operations:
- Students are dismissed at midnight Tuesday, Oct 8 and will return Friday morning, Oct. 11.
- Non-essential personnel should not report to work Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
UF Veterinary Hospitals Operations:
- UF Pet Emergency Treatment Services (UF PETS) in Ocala will be closed Wednesday night , Oct. 9 (5 p.m.) and will open Thursday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m.
- The UF Veterinary Hospital at World Equestrian Center in Ocala will operate normally until 5 p.m. UF PETS staff and doctors will take over emergency operations at WEC from 5 p.m. – 8.am. Thursday morning for small animal urgent care. WEC equine staff will be onsite overnight Oct. 9 to provide care for any horses in need stables onsite at WEC.
- UFVH Gainesville:
- Will remain open 24-7 for emergency admissions throughout.
- Wednesday, Oct. 9: The hospital will remain open for normal business.
- Thursday, Oct. 10: Drop-off and outpatient appointments will be delayed until 10 a.m. but otherwise the hospital will remain open for normal business.
