Large Animal Medicine
The large animal medicine service is composed of eight clinicians that provide advanced critical care and diagnostic services
- Intensive critical care for both neonates and adults
- Diagnosis and care of horses afflicted with gastrointestinal disease
- Diagnosis and care of neurological disease in large animals, including use of such techniques as cerebrospinal fluid collection, electromyography and MRI
- Pulmonary function testing
- Equine cardiology
- Transvenous electrical cardioversion for atrial fibrillation
- Diagnosis and treatment of muscle diseases
- State of the art isolation facilities and in house diagnostic testing for management of infectious diseases
- Advanced diagnostic imaging including ultrasound of the abdomen, thorax and umbilical structures and digital radiography, CT and MRI
- Endoscopy of the stomach, upper airway and bladder
- Herd of blood donors with 24 hour cross-matching service
