What are the hours of operation?

The hospital is open to receive clients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Firday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday for discharges.

Is the hospital open 24 hours a day for emergencies?

The Small Animal Hospital is only open afterhours on an ermergency basis for VMC patients or with a veterinary referral. We do provide care to all patients around the clock.

What services does the UFVMC provide?

The UFVMC offers comprehensive diagnositc and treatment services to pets ofa ll shapes and sizes. Services include:

How long can I expect to wait when I arrive?

We make every attempt to keep the schedule running on time, however, due to emergencies, there may be a delay. We want to give every client individualized attention.

How do I receive a copy of my medical record?

Contact Medical Records Department to request copies of a pet's medical record number by dialing the following number: 352-392-2235 for copies of records for all small animals including exotic animals.

Medical Records staff will indicate the charges for processing photo copies and they will fax and/or mail a Release of Information consent form to you to be completed prior to processing your request for photo copies of your pet's medical records.

Do we see patients for general services or just specialties?

If you live locally we are happy to serve you for your animal's regular health care needs.

Why do we have only morning appointments on some services?

The appointments are made in the morning so that the afternoon is dedicated for diagnostic procedures.

Q: Who works on my animal?

A: A dedicated team consisting of board-certified specialists; residents and interns (who are graduate veterinarians undergoing additional training in a specialty area); third and fourth-year veterinary students (who work under the direct supervision of our faculty); veterinary nurses and veterinary technicians.
