Q: What are the hours of operation?
A: The hospital is open to receive clients from 8 am to 5 pm M-F, and 8-12 on Saturday for discharges.

Q: Is the hospital open 24 hours a day for emergencies?
A: The Small Animal Hospital is only open afterhours on an emergency basis for VMC patients or with a veterinary referral. We do provide care to all patients around the clock.

Q: What services does the UFVMC provide?
A: The UFVMC offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to pets of all shapes and sizes. Services include:

Q: How long can I expect to wait when I arrive?
A: We make every attempt to keep the schedule running on time, however, due to emergencies, there may be a delay. We want to give every client individualized attention.

Q: How do I receive a copy of my medical record?
A: Contact Medical Records Department to request copies of pet's medical record number by dialing the following numbers (352) 392-2235 for copies of records for all small animals including exotic animals.

Medical Records staff will indicate the charges for processing photo copies and they will fax and/or mail a Release of Information consent form to you to be completed prior to processing your request for photo copies of your pet's medical records.

Q: Do we see patients for general services or just specialties?
A: If you live locally we are happy to serve you for your animal’s regular health care needs.

Q: Why do we have only morning appointments on some services?
A: The appointments are made in the morning so that the afternoon is dedicated for diagnostic procedures.

Q: Who works on my animal?
A: A dedicated team consisting of board-certified specialists; residents and interns (who are graduate veterinarians undergoing additional training in a specialty area); third and fourth-year veterinary students (who work under the direct supervision of our faculty); veterinary nurses and veterinary technicians.
