Approximately 15,000 dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and iguanas, among other species, are admitted or treated at the Small Animal Hospital each year. About 4,000 horses are admitted or treated at the Large Animal Hospital each year. Approximately 1,000 farm animals, such as beef and dairy cattle, are seen and treated in their home farm environments by veterinarians associated with the Large Animal Hospital’s Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service (FARMS).
On any given day at our teaching hospital, veterinary students performing their clinical rotations are exposed to a wide range of services including: small animal medicine, small animal surgery, dermatology, cardiology, large animal medicine, large animal surgery, anesthesiology, clinical microbiology/parasitology, clinical pathology, anatomical pathology, surgical pathology, neurology, ophthalmology, reproduction, food animal reproduction and medicine, and wildlife and zoological medicine.
