Artificial Insemination (AI) represents one of the greatest advancements in the reproductive management of beef and dairy cattle. It has enabled dairymen and cattlemen throughout the world to maximize performance through genetic improvement. However, to optimize the success of AI, technicians must understand cattle estrus behavior, proper handling of semen and insemination techniques. Several training programs are conducted to assist people in learning these procedures, but until recently, most have been presented in English. Since the dairy industry in the United States relies heavily on Hispanic labor, it was determined that an AI training program in Spanish was needed. Therefore, Select Sire Power and the University of Florida’s IFAS Extension Service have teamed up to present it’s first training program entirely in Spanish on Artificial Insemination.
