Seminars:
We host a monthly seminar series usually on the first or second Tuesday of the month, that will be two fold in purpose. Guest speakers will be asked to provide a scientific seminar at the College of Veterinary Medicine during the day, 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm, and give a more generalized presentation to the public in the evening, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Food and refreshments will be provided for both the afternoon and evening seminars
Fall 2008 Seminar Series
Oct 7th - Dr. Ramiro Isaza "Elephants: A new aquatic species?" 12:30pm in VS-20.
Note: There is not an evening seminar for this presentation.
Nov 4th - Ray Davis "A lifetime of innovation in the aquarium industry" The 12:30pm seminar MOVED TO LECT HALL B (not VS-7). Note: There is not an evening seminar for this presentation.
Dec 2nd - Andy Kane "TBA" The 12:30pm seminar will be held in VS-20. Note: There is not an evening seminar for this presentation.
VS-20 is located in the vet school complex next to the bookstore and courtyard area. For those coming from outside the vet school: enter through the main doors of the Veterinary Academic Building (VMAW on the campus map), the large, multi-story building on the east end of the vet school's complex, walk straight down the hall until the end and turn right, go out the glass doors and straight across the courtyard, through the glass doors, you will see vending machine and VS-20 is the first door on your left.
VS-7 is in the vet school complex across from Security and northwest of VS-20 (around the corner).
Lecture Hall A and B are located at the front entrance to the Veterinary Academic Building (VMAW on the campus map), the large, multi-story building on the east end of the vet school's complex, and is visible from 16th Avenue. Signs will be posted.
The Equine Auditorium is located just inside the green gates in the Alec P. & Louise H. Courtelis Equine Teaching Hospital (VMEH on the campus map) and is visible from Shealy Drive. Signs will be posted.

Conferences:
The Florida Marine Mammal Health Conference III was held at the Whitney Laboratory in St. Augustine, Florida from April 22-25, 2008. Proceedings of the conference should be posted soon.
The Proceedings of the Florida Marine Mammal Health Conference II held April 7-10, 2005. The purpose of this conference was to address issues bearing on the health and well being of the four principal species of wild marine mammals found in Florida waters: manatees, bottlenose dolphins, pygmy sperm whales and Northern right whales, as well as captive marine mammals at theme parks, aquariums, and zoos. This site provides a link to access the abstracts of both oral and poster presentations from this meeting.

Workshops:
Fish Health Management Workshop (Printer-friendly flyer)
May 13 - 14, 2008
This two-day workshop provides an opportunity for fish farmers to learn about fish health management through lectures and hands-on wet labs. Lecture topics include: basic introduction to fish, fish biology, and fish physiology; introduction to fish health management principles; water quality; pathogens (parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi); and treatments. Hands-on wet labs include: water chemistry testing; fish anatomy and necropsy; and how to check for fish parasites.
