Application Procedures
Q. Does the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) require applicants to submit both a VMCAS application and a supplemental application?
A. Yes. The entire application process involves three distinct steps which are listed below.
Step 1: VMCAS application - this will take you to an outside link where you will be given detailed instructions on how to complete your VMCAS application. Once VMCAS is completed return to our CVM website for step 2.
Step 2: University of Florida Professional School - this will link you to the UF Professional School Application section. This is required for all applicants to professional schools. A fee is required and should be mailed to the address provided. You will be assigned a University of Florida Identification (UFID) number which will be required in order to complete step 3.
Step 3: Setting up an account with our college (UFCVM). You will need to complete a Supplemental Information Sheet and a Supplemental Essay. These 2 forms along with GRE scores and official transcripts should be mailed to the following address:

Q. Does the University of Florida CVM charge a separate fee for the supplemental application?
A. No! The only fees required are for the VMCAS application and the UF Professional School application.
Q. Is there a fee for the University of Florida Professional Application? Is so, where do I send this payment?
A. Yes, it should be mailed to: University of Florida, Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 2946, Gainesville, FL 32602
Q. If I mail my UF Professional Application fee to the CVM by mistake, will you forward it to the appropriate office?
A. No, the check will be returned to you, thus delaying the application process.
Q. Can I pay my application fee with a credit card?
A. Yes, the Office of Admissions at the University of Florida accepts personal checks, money orders, and credit cards.
Transcripts
Q. Do you need a transcript from every college I've ever attended?
A. Yes, including transcripts from any college courses taken while in High School.
Q. Can I collect my official transcripts and mail them to the college together, or should I have them sent directly from my school to your office?
A. Either way is acceptable. If you decide to collect them, they must be received in our office officially sealed.

Q. If I am taking classes at the University of Florida, do I still need to send you a transcript?
A. Yes, we are not able to print transcripts for University of Florida applicants.
Q. My name on my VMCAS application is different from the name on my transcripts. Would this be a problem?
A. Yes, please contact our office (send e-mail to chaparrol@vetmed.ufl.edu) if your transcripts are under a name different from the VMCAS application.
Note: Notify our office if there is a change in your name. We will update our record. This will ensure that all application materials are received and matched up correctly.
GRE Scores
Q. What is your school GRE code?
A. The institution code for UFCVM is 5812 and the department code is 0617.
Q. When do you need to receive my GRE scores?
A. The latest you can take the GRE would be the third week of October. Please check with our office for the specific date.

Q. How many references do you need?
A. We require three electronic references letters to be submitted through VMCAS. A minimum of one (1) letter must be from a veterinarian with whom you have worked closely, although two letters from veterinarians are preferred.
Advance Placement Courses (AP) and courses taken abroad
Q. Will you accept Advance Placement credit taken in High School?
A. Yes, we will accept them as long as it's documented on an undergraduate transcript.
Q. Will you accept credits from courses taken at foreign institutions?
A. We will accept courses that have been transferred to a U.S. college and have been noted on a U.S. college transcript with a grade. For those courses that are not included in a U.S. transcript, the course must be evaluated by an education service in order for us to decide if it is acceptable.
General Questions
Q. Can I be enrolled in courses while applying to vet school?
A. Yes. If you are admitted to our school and you have spring term courses to complete, your offer will be considered provisional until a final transcript with a passing grade has been received by our office.
Q. How do I know if my transcripts and GRE scores have been received?
A. By checking into the account you created in the third step (see above) of your application process.
Q. When will I hear from you regarding the status of my application?
A. We will correspond via e-mail.
Q. Since I will be out of the country, can my family or close friends check on the status of my application, transcripts, GRE scores, etc.?
A. No. Your application is confidential. We can only release information to the applicant.
