Travel Grant Application

Travel grants provided by the Veterinary Graduate Student Association (VGSA) will be in the form of reimbursement of expenses incurred during the attendance of a conference with the specific purpose of presenting research findings. The VGSA travel grant will not reimburse food expenses. Reimbursement will be up to $250 per application. Please keep all receipts for expenses, and submit them upon return. Applicants are limited to one VGSA travel grant per academic year.

As the amount of money the VGSA has to provide for student travel is limited, we encourage you to pursue other sources of funding prior to applying for funding through the VGSA. The UF Graduate Student Council and the UF Office of Research and Graduate Programs (RGP) both offer travel funds for graduate students, and most departments within the College of Veterinary Medicine have funds available for graduate student travel.

To be eligible for a VGSA travel grant, you must be a graduate student in the College of Veterinary Medicine, and be the first author of the presentation at the conference to be attended. Please submit the following, at least 3 weeks prior to the date of travel:

      1. This form, completed and signed by the applicant and supervisor.
      2. Conference announcement/advertisement.
      3. Abstract for the paper/poster/presentation you will present with author string.
      4. Acceptance letter from the conference organizer.

The submission materials should be deposited in the VGSA box in the CVM Office of Research and Graduate Studies (see Sally O'Connell).

If your application is approved, you will be provided with a reimbursement form to be submitted upon return with receipts of expenses.

Questions regarding applications can be forwarded to any of the VGSA Officers.
