Current Research:
My main research interests involve various aspects of marine mammal immunology. I am especially interested in the following components:
- The effects of anthropogenically induced and naturally occurring environmental stressors on immune function
- wound healing
- immunomonitoring; as a tool for health assessment
For my PhD, I plan to focus on tear film analysis and its role as an indicator of immune function and overall health in sirenians and historically related species such as the Asian elephant and rock hyrax.
Laboratory Experience:
- Histotechniques: Histology and Immunohistochemistry
- Gram 50 Sound Analysis
- ERDAS
- MATLAB
- GIS
- Vortex9
- TPOD.exe
- Proficient in hydrophone use
- Photo-Identification (Sirenians, Humpback Whales, Small Cetaceans)
- FinScan
- Europhlukes
- Age Dynamics in Pinnipeds and Cetaceans
- Vet Tech Experience (Wildlife, Marine Mammal, and Sea Turtle Rehabilitation)
