Research Interests:
His main areas of research interest include clinical epidemiology of diseases in food animals, equine athletes and wildlife. Since 2000, he serves as chair of the infection control committee at the UF VMC Large Animal Hospital, where he also plays an important role as co-investigator in clinical research with faculty and residents. Since 2003, he serves as Director of the Office of International Programs. He is a consultant for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization on formulation, implementation and evaluation of national animal disease surveillance systems of economic and public health importance. Since 2000, he collaborates with USDA International Services as instructor of epidemiology, animal disease surveillance systems and capacity building in regional/national veterinary services (ie, Latin America: 2000 to present; Asia/Thailand: 2006; Africa/Senegal: 2007; The Caribbean/Dominican Republic: 2008).
