College Departments
The College is organized into six functional and administrative units: College Administration, the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, the Department of Infectious Diseases & Pathology, the Department of Physiological Sciences, the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, and the Veterinary Medical Center. The CVM is included within two University of Florida administrative units, having funding and reporting ties to both the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and the Health Science Center.
The College is administratively organized with Dean Glen Hoffsis as the chief officer. Dr. Jim Thompson serves as Executive Associate Dean, in charge of budgetary oversight and day-to-day college operations. Dr. Tom Vickroy serves as Interim Associate Dean for Students and Instruction, overseeing the professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, admissions, teaching and curriculum and student affairs. Dr. Charles Courtney serves as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and oversees research, grants as well as the college’s M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Zoë Seale serves as our Senior Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, Karen Legato is Director of Development and Alumni Affairs and Sarah Carey is our Director of Public Relations.
Academic department chairs are Dr. Eleanor Green, Large Animal Clinical Sciences; Dr. John Dame, Infectious Diseases and Pathology; Dr. John Harvey, Physiological Sciences; and Dr. Colin Burrows, Small Animal Clinical Sciences.
The Veterinary Medical Center at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine includes both the Small Animal Hospital and the Large Animal Hospital, each of which functions under the direction of a chief of staff and an associate chief of staff. The Small Animal Hospital is directed by Chief of Staff Dr. Colin Burrows and Associate Chief of Staff Dr. Michael Schaer. The Large Animal Hospital is directed by Chief of Staff Dr. Eleanor Green and Associate Chief of Staff Dr. David Freeman.
The business, administrative and support services for the Veterinary Medical Center and the College are under the supervision of Director of Medical/Health Administration John Haven. The Fiscal Affairs Assistant Director is Judy Bousquet.
